How do the meal plans work?

The meal plan week begins Sunday and ends at midnight on Saturday. Any unused meals left as of midnight on Saturday are lost and are not refundable. Meal plans are priced with the assumption that students will not use all of their meals. Meals are available for use by the cardholder only. Students may increase their meal plan at any time. Meal plans may be decreased up until the beginning of fall semester. Once the school year begins fall semester, students may not decrease their meal plan. All meal plan changes are made online at the Housing Self-Service portal.

When does the meal plan begin?

All meal plans for fall semester begin with lunch on the Thursday before the first day of classes.

All meal plans for spring semester begin with lunch on the Sunday before the first day of classes.

All meal plans for summer semester being with dinner on the Sunday before the first day of classes.

Guest swipe or flex points may be used for guest meals in dining courts. Students and their guest(s) have the option to dine at West 82 Food Court in Baker University Center by using Flex Points, Bobcat Cash, or credit/debit cards.  In order to reduce contact and speed our service, all Culinary Services venues are cashless.

What is the difference between a Flex Meal Plan and a Traditional Meal Plan

Flex Meal Plan meal swipes may be used at Boyd Market, Nelson Market and Jefferson Marketplace in addition to all Dining Courts. Each meal swipe in the markets is worth $6.75 of product.

Flex points ($225 included with flex meal plan per semester) may be used at campus retail venues.

Traditional meal plans may be used in dining courts and Smooth Moves in Boyd Market.

What is the Destination Dining plan?

Destination Dining offers $450 in Flex Points (valid for the entire academic year and expiring at the end of spring semester) for only $427.  One Flex Point equals $1.00. Flex Points are non-refundable. Students on any other meal plan may add this option to their existing meal plan.

My student has a food allergy or special diet need. How do you accommodate this?

We provide meals for numerous special diets; in fact, Culinary Services utilizes its own gluten-free kitchen area to further assist those on campus with special diet needs. Margaret's, within The District on West Green, specializes in offering menu items for most special dietary needs. If you have questions, contact our registered dietitian, Angie Bohyer, at 740.593.2970, culinarydietitian@ohio.edu She will work with students to make certain that their needs are met.

How do I change my meal plan?

Please follow this link for adding or changing your meal plan.

What is Bobcat Cash?

Bobcat Cash is used like a pre-paid debit card. Money that you put on your account can be used at a variety of locations on campus using your University ID. Bobcat Cash is a way for students, faculty and staff to access products and services on campus without carrying cash. Deposit funds to your account and use your University ID in Dining Courts, markets, cafes, vending machines, main laundry centers and Baker University Center. You can add more money to your account as needed.

Unlike cash, Bobcat Cash can only be spent on limited things in limited places on campus -- you'll be better able to see where your money is going. Bobcat Cash cannot be used at off-campus locations and does not allow cash withdraws. Bobcat Cash does carry over semester to semester and year to year.
