Employee Wellbeing Program Updates

September 4, 2020

Benefits participating employees/spouses/partners can earn up to $260 in 2020 with HealthyOHIO.

Healthy OHIO is Ohio University's employee wellness initiative. Available to Ohio University employees enrolled in the medical plan and their benefits-participating spouses/partners, the program is intended to give participants customizable tools and resources for a variety of wellness goals. Healthy OHIO is an umbrella program that houses two sub-programs: an online/mobile wellness platform called Virgin Pulse and biometric health screenings.

Slight changes have been made to the Fiscal Year 2021 HealthyOHIO program due to COVID-19. Our goal is to continue to support the health and wellbeing of our employees, while respecting individual choices around coronavirus challenges. The following FY21 program offering adjustments minimize risks while still allowing for employees to seek knowledge, understanding and support for their health needs.

  • Biometric Health Screenings (No reward in 2020, but free* preventive exams with Anthem BCBS coverage.
    • Athens affiliates currently have two options:
      • Schedule an appointment at Athens WorkHealth Clinic. Appointments are now available beginning September 8 and ending December 30. Appointments are required: Call 614-566-WORK(9675).
        • Can't attend an appointment during regular business hours? We have a special evening option on October 14 (6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.)!
      • Attend an appointment with your Primary Care Physician. If it is not classified as a preventive exam due to pre-existing conditions, we recommend scheduling with WorkHealth, instead.
    • Regional affiliates currently have one option:
      • Attend an appointment with your Primary Care Physician.
      • If safety protocols allow for it, we will resume our on-campus screening events in Spring 2021.
  • Mobile Wellbeing with Virgin Pulse (Earn up to $260 in 2020)
    • Earn $50 quarterly by engaging with Virgin Pulse
    • Earn $60 in 2020 by taking the Health Check (found in the Programs tab of your Virgin Pulse portal). Tip: if you're having difficulty accessing the Health Check in the mobile app, try locating it in the web based platform, instead.
  • Virtual Risk Reduction Program: The Risk Reduction program is a team-based approach to health and wellness.  Inspired by an evidence-based program that emphasizes eating well, moving more, stressing less, and love; the Risk Reduction program is an opportunity to make each of these actions your own. Interested? fill out our Virtual Risk Reduction Interest Form (this will send you informational emails and does not sign you up for the program or obligate you in any way).

*While preventive care within the Anthem network is covered at 100%, services that are outside of the Anthem network and/or not classified as preventive care are subject to cost sharing. Please discuss the status of your visit with your physician's office.
