University Libraries and the Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine are offering a new research discovery tool: Read by QxMD. This tool is designed for all health care professionals and students and connects to content via PubMed/MEDLINE and soon CINAHL (Cumulative Index for Nursing and Allied Health). The app is free and provides a single place to keep up with new medical and scientific research that’s relevant to you.

Once you download the mobile app or visit the web version, you can create a ‘Read’ account with your OHIO credentials. This will allow you to access University Libraries’ full-text subscriptions on and off campus.

Getting set up is quick and easy:

  1. Download Read by QxMD for iOS or Android from your app store. A web version is also available at http://read.qxmd.com
  2. Create an account and your specialty/areas of interest.
  3. Lastly, add your institution to your “Account Settings” under “Institutional Access”.

Because the ‘Read’ app allows you to curate your feed by filtering for your profession/specialty/location and favorite journals, you will immediately start receiving recommendations of the most relevant and top trending papers in your area of interest. By interacting with articles, the ‘Read’ app will better understand what type of content you are interested in. Over time, your feed will be personalized based on these interactions and the top papers of your specialty.

You can also create and share collections, which is a great way to share ideas with colleagues or provide a reading list for students.

Read by QxMD is available on iOS and Android and via a web browser.
