OhioLINK IOP Journal Package Upgrade Provides Open Access Publishing Benefits and Greater Access

December 6, 2022

Ohio University Libraries and OhioLINK are pleased to announce an upgraded agreement with Institute of Physics (IOP) publishers for access to more IOP journals.

This agreement includes unlimited open access (OA) publishing benefits for Ohio University researchers as well as access to all IOP journal titles. Access to the collection and publishing benefits will begin on January 1, 2023.

This upgrade has two benefits for OHIO researchers:

  1. OHIO authors can publish open-access research in all eligible IOP journals, both fully open access and hybrid open access journals, without any cap and at no cost to the author and at no additional cost to any institution.
  2. It increases access to IOP journals, adding 22 new IOP journals to OhioLINK's Electronic Journal Center (EJC) existing custom package of 50 journals in physics, materials science, biosciences, astronomy and astrophysics, environmental sciences, and mathematics.

These kinds of agreements have led to significant savings for Ohio University researchers. Since January 2022, OhioLINK’s open access agreements have waived $1,928,034 of APC fees for 31 OhioLINK institutions, including Ohio University.
