October 3, 2023

OhioLINK, the statewide academic library consortium that provides shared digital library resources (e-books, e-journals & articles, databases) and facilitates print sharing among member libraries in Ohio, announced the selection of Ex Libris Alma as the consortium’s, and Ohio University Libraries’, next shared library services platform. Ohio University is a charter member of OhioLINK.

The Alma library management system modernizes workflows and increases efficiency by streamlining print, electronic, and digital resources management for OhioLINK and Ohio University Libraries. Alma also enables OhioLINK and Ohio University Libraries to deliver a high-quality user experience with seamless access to materials, as well as integrating with other library and university systems.

OhioLINK shares that implementation of Alma is expected to take up to two years. Project plans for implementing Alma are being developed at the consortium level and will be communicated over the next several months. Ohio University Libraries has put together a Local Coordinating ILS Task Force that includes staff who are members of an ongoing OhioLINK team. While we see changes coming, we will be working toward an implementation with little to no service disruptions. Please feel free to contact Damon DeBorde, Head of Metadata Services and interim chair of the Local Coordinating ILS Task Force, with any questions.
