Ohio University Libraries Embarks on Migration to a New Library Services Platform
In the summer of 2025, Ohio University Libraries, along with all OhioLINK institutions, will implement a new library services platform and search interface. The Libraries will be migrating to Ex Libris’ Alma and Primo, replacing the current ALICE catalog, ArticlesPlus, and backend systems.
A library services platform is used to manage fundamental library functions like checking materials in and out, managing orders and subscriptions, and organizing resources for library user searching and access. The Alma library services platform will modernize and streamline resource management and enable Ohio University Libraries to deliver a high-quality user experience with seamless access to materials.
The Libraries anticipate going live in June 2025 and will strive to minimize disruptions for users in the weeks leading up to the launch date. Updates will be shared throughout the migration, including information on service changes or interruptions as the new system is configured.
OhioLINK is the statewide academic library consortium that provides shared digital library resources (e-books, e-journals & articles, databases) and facilitates print sharing among member libraries in Ohio. Ohio University is a charter member of OhioLINK.
