Shira is currently completing her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from The State University of New York at Buffalo. While pursuing her doctorate, Shira provided therapy to college students at University at Buffalo Counseling Services, clients with eating disorders at a partial hospitalization program, and oncology patients at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. Shira welcomes individuals to therapy with a variety of presenting concerns. Her areas of interest include anxiety, OCD, eating disorders, chronic health concerns/pain, sport performance, and procrastination. Shira approaches therapy from a humanistic framework and integrates evidence-based techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). She is particularly interested in utilizing gold standard treatments, including exposure and response prevention (ERP). Shira is also passionate about positive psychology practices, such as mindfulness, self-compassion, and self-care. Shira aims to create a warm and compassionate space where clients feel understood and safe to share fears, worries, and concerns. She tailors her collaborative approach to best meet clients' unique needs in order to instill hope, joy, and meaning in life.
