Textbook Program

Overview

The Bobcat Depot Bookstore discontinued operations during the Fall 2017 semester on the Chillicothe, Eastern, Lancaster, and Southern campuses. Students who attend these campuses will no longer receive a textbook authorization form from Ohio University and must work directly with their school district to obtain required textbooks, course materials, or digital content.

As of July 1, 2020, students who attend the Zanesville campus will no longer receive a textbook authorization form and will need to work directly with their school districts to obtain required textbooks, course materials or digital content.

Procedures

Students who attend the Eastern, Chillicothe, Lancaster, Southern or Zanesville campuses must work directly with their school district to obtain required textbooks, course materials, or digital content.

New, first term CC+ students who attend the Athens campus will receive a textbook authorization form at the required orientation sessions prior to the start of each semester. Student services staff will need to populate the authorization forms with the students name, PID and school district information. The school district information should be derived from the ODEW Public District Treasurer Information spreadsheet.

Continuing students that attend Athens campus will be mailed their textbook authorization form approximately 4 weeks prior to the start of each semester. In the case that a continuing student does not receive an authorization form, please have them contact University College on the Athens campus.

The Registrar’s Office will send daily enrollment reports by campus and class section to each bookstore to ensure proper inventories are prepared.

After receipt of the authorization form, students should print their course schedules and take both documents to the bookstore on the campus where they will be primarily taking classes as indicated below:

Athens Campus:
The College Bookstore
50 S Court St,
Athens, OH 45710-1555

The bookstore will keep the authorization form on file in the case a student changes their schedule and needs to either add or return a book.

Inclusive Access Program

Ohio University’s Inclusive Access Program may raise questions around how and where CC+ students enrolled in participating courses need to obtain their digital course materials. Please be advised that CC+ students are not currently registered for the Inclusive Access Program and thus, do not need to opt out of or take any additional action related to the program, as their student accounts will not be charged.

CC+ students will have temporary access to digital course content for participating courses that typically expires at the end of the add/drop period. CC+ students are encouraged to obtain their required course textbooks, course materials or digital content based on their OHIO campus as described above.

Direct Billing Option

Ohio University offers school districts the opportunity to opt-in to direct billing for digital materials when their CC+ students are enrolled in participating Inclusive Access courses. This option provides the district’s CC+ students, enrolled in an Inclusive Access course, with uninterrupted access to digital course content at a discounted rate. School districts will still be responsible for sourcing any required course materials for students enrolled in courses that are not part of the Inclusive Access program. Two weeks prior to the start of each term, school districts will receive a copy of the CC+ Textbook Report with the Pre-Term Enrollment notices. This report will include a column that indicates if a course is part of the Inclusive Access program or not so school districts are aware of what materials they will need to directly source.

If school districts are interested in receiving more information on how they can opt-in to direct billing for Inclusive Access materials, they should email collegecreditplus@ohio.edu. The assistant director for dual enrollment program will follow-up with the school district, providing a contract that outlines the Inclusive Access agreement for their review and signature. Once the signed contract is received from the school district, the agreement is sent to the Office of the Provost for a final signature before a complete copy is sent back to the school district for their records. A code indicating the school district’s participation in the direct billing program will then be adding to the organizational affiliation table under the school district org ID in PeopleSoft.

If a CC+ student enrolls in a course that is non-allowable under CC+, puts the student over their allotted credit hours for the year or chooses to retake a course they previously earned credit in, the student will be financially responsible for the course at the regular campus-based tuition and fees rate and obtaining any required course materials, even if it is an Inclusive Access course and their school district is participating in direct billing.

Inclusive Access Program Communication

CC+ students who are enrolled in courses that participate in the Inclusive program will receive email communication from Ohio University prior to the start of the term and the add/drop period to confirm they are enrolled in an Inclusive Access course and provide details on next steps to obtain their required course materials.

CC+ students who are enrolled in an Inclusive Access course and are eligible for the inclusive access content because their school district has opted-in to the Inclusive Access Program direct billing, will also receive email communication indicating that their school district will be billed for their course materials and no additional action is needed.

Instructors teaching Inclusive Access courses will receive email communication that outlines the messaging CC+ students in their course are receiving with regards to obtaining their required course materials.
