The Registrar’s Office follows the process outlined below to determine compliance:
- Registrar Services staff will utilize the sss.gov website to confirm compliance with a student’s last name, social security number and date of birth.
- If a student does not have a social security number in the system, their compliance cannot be confirmed and they are automatically deemed noncompliant.
- If a student is verified as compliant:
- Staff will scan the verification letter into OnBase.
- Staff will replace a SSRV student group on the account.
- SSRV student group date is effective the compliance date on the verification letter.
- If we compliance cannot be verified via the sss.gov system:
- SELC student group is placed effective the day before term start on the account.
- A checklist item is placed in the student’s student center.
- Student is flagged for follow-up with compliance communications.
- Student will be assessed the non-resident fee per Ohio State Law.
- Once all students are checked, an email will be sent to the email account on file requesting documentation of compliance.
- The Office of the University Bursar will assess charges the Thursday prior to the term start.
- Once a student comes into compliance by providing the documentation:
- Staff will inactivate the SELC student group effective the start date of term on the account.
- Staff will remove the checklist item.
- Student’s account will update overnight, however, the balance can be manually updated as well.
- Three more communications will be sent throughout the term, one of them being paper based and sent to the student’s home.
- The student has until the end date of the term to provide compliance documentation.
- After the term is official closed, charges cannot be removed/reversed.
- Selective and verification process will be ongoing throughout the term.

Pre-Enrollment Discipline and Criminal History Review Form Process
Once a student has been admitted to Ohio University and the decision has been released, a checklist item will be added to their MyOHIO Student Center letting students know they are required to complete the discipline and criminal history review form. Once the form has been completed, the checklist item will be release. CC+ students will be required to complete the form prior to registering for orientation.
You can learn more about this process and find answers to frequently asked questions at www.ohio.edu/admissions/pre-enrollment-review. For questions regarding the completion of this required form, please contact Undergraduate Admissions at 740.593.4100 or admissions@ohio.edu.
Transfer Credit Processing Procedures
Students admitted to Ohio University’s College Credit Plus program are enrolled as non-degree students. Thus, external course and test credit is not automatically added to admitted CC+ student records and evaluated for equivalency. In the case the credit is needed for admission or course pre-requisite purposes, Undergraduate Admissions will process the students external credit at the request of the either the regional campus student services office or University College for Athens campus students. Requests should be sent via email to admissions@ohio.edu.
Degree-Seeking Student Status
Admission to CC+ does not guarantee any subsequent admission to any Ohio University campus as a degree-seeking student. Under CC+, applicants are admitted as nondegree students. Students wishing to attend Ohio University beyond high school graduation and/or earn an Ohio University degree must complete the freshman application, pay any required application processing fees, submit required credentials, and meet deadlines.
CC+ students will receive full credit toward Ohio University graduation for all courses taken with passing grades while enrolled in the program. However, students may not earn a degree until they have been admitted as a degree-seeking student. Credit earned may be transferred to other postsecondary institutions at the discretion of those institutions.
