College Credit Plus Manual

Version 2024-25-0.1
Last updated: 4/5/2024

The purpose of the College Credit Plus Manual is to act as an official reference guide for faculty and administrators who work closely with Ohio University’s Dual Enrollment Program, College Credit Plus (CC+), and participating students. It is designed to provide a repository of policies, practices, and operational procedures as they relate to the implementation of the CC+ legislation. This document is maintained by the assistant director of Dual Enrollment Programs and is updated on an annual basis based on input from the university community and the CC+ Advisory Board. Questions pertaining to the content of this document should be addressed to Heather Martin or any of the CC+ Advisory Board members.

The College Credit Plus program is Ohio University’s premier dual enrollment opportunity for students enrolled in grades 7 through 12. The program is designed to provide eligible students with an enhanced educational opportunity that exposes them to the college experience while creating the opportunity to earn college credit and satisfying high school graduation requirements concurrently.

At the center of the College Credit Plus program are the students. A student’s participation is often a rewarding and enjoyable experience. During their time in the program, students develop the skills necessary to be successful in the college setting, such as the ability to work without supervision, academic and social self-discipline, and a desire to excel in a rigorous academic environment. For many of these students, this will be their first exposure to college. Thus, the rigor of college-coursework and the transition may be challenging.

  • Vision for Ohio University’s College Credit Plus Implementation

The CC+ Task Force spent time considering Ohio University’s possible vision for implementing an effective College Credit Plus program. The result was a set of seven objectives that were intended to provide guidance for the implementation of the CC+ processes. The implementation of College Credit Plus should accomplish all of the following:

    1. Create a set of College Credit Plus guidelines that are consistent and in compliance with the purpose and intent of the College Credit Plus legislation.
    2. Establish clear and consistent processes that serve students, schools and faculty members effectively and efficiently.
    3. Ensure the development of high quality College Credit Plus programs that are recognized for their rigor and their effectiveness in preparing students for college.
    4. Encourage the development of new programs for the purpose of more effectively serving the region and the state by providing greater access to higher education.
    5. Encourage the development of programs and pathways that encourage capable and talented students to continue their education at Ohio University.
    6. Collaborate with school and higher education partners for the purpose of collectively serving students, schools, and the community across the state of Ohio.
    7. Increase the number of first generation college students from Southeast Ohio.
