Faculty Development Opportunities

The College of Health Sciences and Professions is dedicated to facilitating continuous learning among its faculty members. Through a combination of college-specific initiatives and those provided by Ohio University (OHIO), a diverse range of professional growth avenues are accessible.

OHIO offers a comprehensive suite of professional development programs and resources tailored to various career stages, including early career, mid-career, and leadership development initiatives. Notable examples include:

  1. Thriving in the Academy
  2. Diverse Faculty Mentorship Program
  3. Mentor Leaders
  4. OHIO Emerging Leader Academy

These faculty development programs adopt a collaborative mentorship model, promoting engagement with multiple mentors rather than traditional one-on-one mentorship.

In addition to these opportunities, OHIO provides access to external resources such as the National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity (NCFDD), with which the university holds an institutional membership. Faculty members are encouraged to register for individual membership to avail themselves of the benefits. Registration can be completed by following the steps outlined below:

  1. Join the NCFDD Community
  2. Select "Ohio University" from the list of members.
  3. Choose "Activate my Membership.”
  4. Complete the registration form using your OHIO email address.
  5. Activate your account by confirming your registration through a confirmation/welcome email from the NCFDD.

Furthermore, faculty members can explore additional learning opportunities through platforms such as LinkedIn Learning, which offers free access with an Athens County library card number and PIN. For those residing outside Athens County, similar resources may be available through their respective local public libraries.

More opportunities will be added over time.
