Why book a workshop?

Our workshops are designed to introduce you and your team to some of the tools and services we offer in our Service Catalog.

I booked a workshop. Now what?

When you book a workshop, you will be sent a confirmation email with information on how to join the meeting via Microsoft Teams.

Want more people from your team to join the workshop you booked? Just forward them the confirmation and they'll be able to join using the same meeting link as you.

 

Workshop offerings

  • Blackboard


    This 45-minute workshop will cover Blackboard basics: accessing your course, uploading a syllabus, adding content and assignments, creating a discussion board, and communicating with your students. (45 minutes, including time for questions)

  • IT Security Products & Services


    This 60-minute workshop lets you meet with Information Security staff to discuss available security products and services that help keep your accounts, devices, and data properly secured.

  • Learning Spaces (Large Classroom Technology)


    This 30-60 minute workshop will cover technology available in centrally scheduled classrooms. Training focuses on face-to-face and hybrid classroom spaces with a 99+ learner capacity. Topics covered include:

    • Using MS Teams on multiple screens
    • Teaching in a hybrid environment (limited to Irvine 194 & 199)
    • Using audio and document cameras for face-to-face and hybrid scenarios.

    Training will be held in Irvine 199.

  • Qualtrics


    This 45-minute workshop will cover the basics of Qualtrics. Learn how to use this robust tool to create and distribute surveys, as well as how to analyze the resulting data. We will be available for individual questions following the workshop. (45 minutes, including time for questions)

  • REDCap


    Research Electronic Data Capture (REDCap) is a secure, web-based application for building and managing online surveys and databases.

    There are three levels of REDCap training available. You will be able to select the appropriate training level when you schedule a workshop. 

    • Introduction: 10-15 minute presentation that can be given at a faculty meeting or other faculty/staff gathering by a REDCap representative. This level of training is appropriate for individuals who are interested in receiving more information about REDCap and how it is used in research. 
    • Basic: 90-120 minute workshop that can be scheduled with a REDCap representative. This level of training is appropriate for individuals who are using REDCap for the first time or individuals who have very limited prior experience. 
    • Advanced: 90-120 minute workshop that can be scheduled with a REDCap representative. This level of training is appropriate for individuals with prior REDCap experience who wish to use surveys or collect longitudinal data in their projects or multi-site projects. 
  • VoiceThread


    This 30-minute workshop will cover the basics of VoiceThread. You will learn how to add a VoiceThread link to your course, create a video assignment, share feedback, and grade student work.  (30 minutes, including time for questions) 

  • Web CMS Trainings


    University Communications and Marketing (UCM) provides training and support for many of our web tools.
