School of Theater Undergraduate Admissions
Building a bridge to the business on the values and craft of the artist, the Ohio University School of Theater offers a variety of degree tracks in the field of theater arts.
Each program has its own variation of requirements, documents, and information that is important to your application process. Find all the resources you might need below.
Admission Requirements
Apply to Ohio University and select the theater major of your choice:
Theater Major (B.F.A.): The program is open to accepted Ohio University undergraduates, especially those who have multiple interests and talents in theater and cultural event production.
Theater Performance Major (B.F.A.) — Acting or Musical Theater Tracks: Students wishing to enter the School of Theater’s Bachelor of Fine Arts degree program must audition/interview for entrance into the program. Students must also apply and meet the general University requirements in order to be accepted.
Theater – Playwriting Major (B.F.A.): After University admission, admission to this concentration is based on an interview with Playwriting faculty and a playwriting manuscript submission.
Theater – Production Design and Technology Major (B.F.A.): After University admission, admission into this concentration is based on an interview with Production Design and Technology faculty/staff and a portfolio presentation.
Theater – Stage Management Major (B.F.A.): After University admission, admission into this concentration is based on an interview with Stage Management faculty and a portfolio presentation.

Financial Aid and Scholarships
High school seniors and any level of undergraduate and graduate students are eligible of talent-based awards. Your initial admissions application serves as your application for most University scholarships. The School of Theater has a number of Fine Arts Talent Awards that may be given to incoming students based on talent. We invite high school seniors to visit Ohio University's School of Theater for Scholarship Day each spring. You will have a chance to meet many members of our faculty, tour our theaters and shops, and audition or interview for scholarship awards. We look forward to meeting you!
