Ohio University Woodwind Day

All high school and college students and woodwind amateurs/enthusiasts/professionals are welcome! 

Join the Ohio University woodwind faculty and current students for a full day of fun and educational woodwind activities for flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon and saxophone. Activities will include: flute, clarinet, saxophone and double-reed choirs; workshops on jazz improvisation, yoga and other topics; individual instrument master classes; faculty and guest artist recitals; and dining at the coolest restaurants on picturesque Court Street in Athens — named a best small art town in America!

Dwight Parry

Principal Oboist of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra (OH)

About

Dwight Perry is the principal oboist of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and newly appointed Assistant Professor of Oboe at Bowling Green State University. He is also Adjunct Professor of Oboe and Chamber Music at the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. He is a versatile and passionate soloist, an avid chamber musician and an active advocate for new music, performing and teaching around the world. Mr. Parry's background in jazz has led him to pursue a career that spans from concert halls to the streets ofNew Orleans, where he has sat in and improvised with Dixie bands. MORE

 

Bernstein

Alexander Bernstein

Assistant Professor of Piano at the Shenandoah Conservatory

About

After making his symphonic debut in 1999, Bernstein has performed concerti with orchestras in the United States and Europe, most recently including performances of Rachmaninoff’s Concerto No. 3 with the RTE National Symphony Orchestra in Ireland and the Shenandoah Conservatory Symphony Orchestra in Virginia. He has given solo recitals in the United States, Canada, Ireland, the U.K., Germany, Italy and Romania.

Bernstein is an avid devotee of new music, studying and premiering works of living composers as well as Berio, Ligeti, Ives, and Cage. In September 2015 he recorded a solo CD of works by the Irish composer Ryan Molloy.  MORE

About

American clarinetist Garrick Zoeter’s passionate and exciting way with the clarinet has been acknowledged around the world. Zoeter is the founding member of the acclaimed multi-award-winning clarinet, violin, cello, piano quartet Antares. From 1997-2012 with Antares, he annually gave performances around the United States at such prestigious venues as The Kennedy Center, La Jolla Chamber Music Society, Aspen Music Festival, Strathmore, Ensemble Music Society of Indianapolis, Carnegie Recital Hall, Market Square Concerts, The Library of Congress, The Los Angeles Museum of Modern Art, and Cincinnati Chamber Music Society.  MORE
