University Singers

The Ohio University Singers serve as Ohio University’s flagship choral ensemble. Our mission is to develop creative, independent, and talented musicians for the purpose of performing choral works at the highest level. We seek to engage the whole person—body, mind, spirit, and voice—as we work together for common goals of excellence and artistry. We value commitment, teamwork, honesty, and understanding; these values help shape our daily work and provide a foundation for the ensemble’s goals. Under the direction of Director of Choral Activities Dr. Peter Allen Haley, University Singers are devoted to the outstanding performance of choral repertoire of all styles and periods. 

University Singers are an auditioned ensemble made up of majors from across the School of Music and Ohio University student body, including Choral Music Education, Music Performance, Music Therapy, Heath Services Administration, Marketing, Psychology, and Sociology-Criminology. Members of University Singers have most recently performed large works including Faure's Requiem, Orff’s Carmina Burana, Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms, and sung in the European premiere In June 2026 of Alex Berko’s Sacred Place at London’s famed Cadogan Hall with Dr. Haley directing. Upcoming engagements will include a performance alongside Broadway star Mandy Gonzalez in November 2026 and Handel’s Messiah in April 2027.
