Power Platform Citizen Developer Community

Project background 

The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is exploring the creation of a citizen developer community that will empower faculty and staff to develop their own low-code web applications using Microsoft’s Power Platform. The Power Platform consists of Power Automate and Power Apps.

Project goal 

Transform how University employees work by supporting access to and development in Microsoft’s Power Platform, as currently licensed to faculty and staff across the institution. 

Drivers 

  • Empower OHIO team members to increase efficiency and reduce manual tasks in their teams​ 

  • Provide opportunities for digitization and innovation across the University 

  • Receive input from the campus community to tailor the initiative according to their needs  

  • Listen to the community to guide this new IT service into the future

  • Increased buy-in from OHIO units and departments when an internal team member is the primary developer
