Portfolio Priorities
IT Portfolio Priorities are the most important body of work happening in each portfolio. The Priority is not the only work occurring in each portfolio, but it is the highest priority. If we do not make progress on these priorities, we will not be successful.
Each portfolio has one priority (with the exception of Business Systems and Teaching & Learning Systems, which currently have two priorities). Priorities are expected to change over time.
Business Systems
Portfolio Priority: Business Systems
Complete a comprehensive assessment of our ERP ecosystem. Results will include a roadmap for modernizing our ERP ecosystem, forecasts of resources and costs, and readiness.
Establish a foundation for data & information strategy. Results will include an agreed upon data management strategy, a data governance framework and working practice, a data literacy campaign, and a roadmap for technical architecture and capabilities.
Digital Enablement
Portfolio Priority: Digital Enablement
Integrate financial sustainability with disciplined planning and delivery to maximize OHIO IT's impact. Results will include a better understanding by campus leadership regarding IT spending, needs forecasting, and the value of technology measurements; better lifecycle planning, risk management, contract optimization, and alignment of the application portfolio with institutional strategy; enhanced consistency, reduced resolution times, and strengthened alignment of IT services with institutional needs; clearer visilitybilty into IT's impact, improved decision making, and demonstrable progress towards the university's mission.
Digital Infrastructure and Operations
Portfolio Priority: Digital Infrastructure and Operations
Develop and commit to a strategy for replacing our legacy unified communications platform. In scope are all use cases of VOIP phones and call center including voice and messaging capabilities. Results will include a roadmap, timeline, budget, and technology selection that considers broad stakeholder input and is vetted and supported by university leadership.
Digital Workspaces
Portfolio Priority: Digital Workspaces
Complete phase 1 of the Device Lifecycle Management initiative. Results will include a centralized procurement process and workflow, a menu of standard devices, and a roadmap for implementation across all administrative and academic units.
Information Security and Digital Accessibility
Portfolio Priority: Information Security
Implement the security scorecard and risk assessment framework. Results will include the development of initial scorecards for all colleges and a repeatable process for measuring, managing, and reporting progress to colleges and to executive leadership.
IT Finance and Staffing
Portfolio Priority: IT Finance and Staffing
Develop a sustainable funding model to manage inflationary costs, optimize product/service levels, and invest in strategic priorities through elevated IT financial narrative and executive engagement. Results will include a financial strategy blueprint, regular executive engagement, and a lightweight metrics & reporting framework.
Student and Faculty Administrative Systems
Portfolio Priority: Student Administrative Systems
Enhance and expand the reach of Go OHIO with personas tailored to new and prospective students, parents, and families.
Teaching and Learning Systems
Portfolio Priority: Teaching and Learning Systems
Foster a data-centric approach to make fiscally responsible decisions in our software evaluations, renewals, and corresponding support staffing models while keeping the student experience in mind.
