Digital Enablement Portfolio

About

The Digital Enablement Portfolio is responsible for the systems, standards, and platforms that help OHIO IT operate as a unified organization. It designs the operating model, and other IT portfolios execute within it. The portfolio stays focused on enterprise capability building that increase the value IT delivers.

Vision

Accelerate OHIO's ability to execute digital strategies by fiscal year 2027

Portfolio Priority

A Portfolio Priority is not the only work happening in this Portfolio, but it is the highest priority. If we do not make progress on this priority, the Portfolio will not be successful:

Portfolio Priority: Digital Enablement

Integrate financial sustainability with disciplined planning and delivery to maximize OHIO IT's impact. Results will include a better understanding by campus leadership regarding IT spending, needs forecasting, and the value of technology measurements; better lifecycle planning, risk management, contract optimization, and alignment of the application portfolio with institutional strategy; enhanced consistency, reduced resolution times, and strengthened alignment of IT services with institutional needs; clearer visilitybilty into IT's impact, improved decision making, and demonstrable progress towards the university's mission.

Roadmap

The Digital Enablement roadmap lays out where we currently are and where we expect to be in the coming months and years. Roadmaps are subject to change based on the priorities of the University, but the overall trajectory should be predictable from semester to semester.

Current Initiatives

Apr 2026 - Dec 2026
Unify the IT Service Catalog

Define what services OHIO IT delivers, validate the tools and structure needed to manage it, and ensure distributed IT partners have shaped the definition before it is ratified.

Jan 2026 - Jun 2026
Enhance IT Roadmaps and Goals

Provide OIT with a clear, actionable, and aligned framework for using IT's project management tool that enables consistent alignment between strategy, roadmaps, and delivery work.

Apr 2026 - Sep 2026
Establish IT Financial Reporting Foundations

Enact a solid foundation for IT financial reporting by auditing data objects, enhancing reporting efforts, and implementing variance reporting.

Notable Accomplishments

  • Launched the OHIO IT Application Inventory

Created a usable application inventory that leadership can rely on for planning and readiness discussions. The Application Inventory is a factual foundation needed by OHIO IT to make credible decisions about risk, cost, duplication, and ERP readiness.

  • Defined OIT Manager Competencies

Established the foundation for clear, shared expectations for effective management needed to improve OIT's performance management capability. It raises the bar for management by defining the capabilities required to plan, lead, and deliver consistently within real constraints.

  • Streamlined Access for OHIO's Technology Partners

Created clear definitions of what it means to be "OHIO IT" or a "Technology Partner" so the right people across Ohio University have access to the tools and files they need. By creating a centralized provisioning process, we enhanced collaboration and reduced frustration from our campus partners.
