Register a Device
Game consoles, TVs, streaming sticks, smart speakers and printers have no way to show you a sign-in screen, so they can't join eduroam.
Register them once and they'll connect to Ohio University Guest without stopping at the terms page and without timing out.
How to register a device
- Find your device's Wi-Fi MAC address. Some devices call it WLAN MAC. A MAC address is a permanent ID built into every device that connects to a network. A name tag your device can't change. It's twelve characters, usually shown in pairs like A1:B2:C3:D4:E5:F6.
- If your device can connect both over Wi-Fi and by cable, it has two of MAC addresses, you need the Wi-Fi one. Registering the wired address is the most common reason a registration doesn't work.
- For help finding your MAC addresses, click the button below.
- On a laptop, phone or tablet that's already connected to eduroam, go to wireless.ohio.edu and sign in with your OHIO account. Or click the button below.
- Follow the prompts to add your device. You can register as many devices as you need.
On the device itself, connect to Ohio University Guest.
Registered devices join Ohio University Guest, not eduroam. That's how it's meant to work. Registering tells the network to let your device skip the terms page and stay connected instead of timing out.
