Lauren Kent
Hello, I’m Lauren Kent, a senior at Ohio University who is about to graduate with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Interior Architecture and a Studio Art Minor. I was raised in a family of four and am originally from the Cincinnati region, specifically Cleves, Ohio. I was always tampering with my surroundings as a child, which is why I adore Interior Architecture. I was constantly rearranging my bedroom, sorting through my clothes, organizing all my items, etc. It always brought me a sense of joy and relief when I would do it. Originally I was going to come to Ohio University for Graphic Design. However, in a strange turn of events, I was given the chance to shadow an interior designer in the Cincy region. From then on, I knew exactly what path I was going to follow.
I established Alypius, an empowerment youth center as my senior thesis project. This Cincinnati-based facility will be a model for adolescent personal development and care. Having witnessed firsthand the destruction that wasted potential and suppression has on kids, I believe this center will be a safe haven where adolescents can explore their own ambitions and feel empowered to take charge of their futures.
