Comments received about how/what our programs can do to address/prepare you more to handle and understand accessibility issues and concerns:

  • Have alternative lab options for people with physical disabilities
  • Open communications and more information on what the university is doing to help those with accessibility needs
  • Love that faculty are exemplifying people's first language. In classes, it would be amazing if recordings of lectures were standardized to support students with language processing barriers.
  • I teach online and have found a lot of barriers associated with relying on online technology. I would appreciate having an instructional designer who specializes in accessibility review my courses, offer suggestions, and work to help me update the accessibility features of my online courses. This is especially important as we move to Canvas and need to understand the new features.
  • Some type of programming (e.g., an online course) to raise awareness (e.g., types of disabilities) and where to find resources.
