The department offers undergraduate bachelor's degrees in French and Spanish, minors in German, French, and Spanish, and certificates in German and Italian. The graduate program features a master's degree in Spanish.

Mark Gibson adds international dimension to research on speech

Mark Gibson is researching specializes in speech development in different populations, including monolingual children with normal hearing, monolingual children who use cochlear implants, bilingual children with normal hearing, those with cochlear implants and second-language speakers.
Suzy Aftabizadeh wants to work on women’s healthcare in Puerto Rico

"Once I finally decided on the topic for my thesis, women’s healthcare in Puerto Rico, I felt more excited and inspired to be in school than I ever have before. I am lucky to have found passion in my research and to be able to apply it to my future goals," said Suzy Aftabizadeh '21.

When recent graduates can employ their marketable skills in the pursuit of an individual passion, they greatly enhance their chances for success, satisfaction, and lifelong rewards.

Many students pursue careers in journalism, political science, education, sociology, international studies, business, government, and social services.
Many enter master's or doctoral programs and go on to academic positions at universities.
Others attend law school or medical school.
Some start their career with volunteer service abroad with organizations such as the Peace Corps
