CLJC Funded Internship Experiences
The Center for Law, Justice & Culture (CLJC) is committed to expanding access to high‑quality, career‑shaping internship experiences for Ohio University students interested in law, justice, and public service. Recognizing that financial constraints and lack of prior experience can create barriers for students, the CLJC has partnered with alumni, community leaders, and legal organizations to build meaningful, mutually beneficial internship opportunities.
Through these partnerships, CLJC provides competitive stipends to students placed in select legal and public‑interest settings, with a particular focus on public service, rural legal needs, and access‑to‑justice initiatives. These placements allow students to gain hands‑on experience, develop professional skills, and contribute to important legal work.
Internship Locations
Students have completed funded internships with organizations such as:
- Legal Aid of Southeast and Central Ohio
- ACLU of Ohio
- Ohio Attorney General’s Office
- Hamilton County Public Defender’s Office
- Neighborhood Legal Services
- Ohio Innocence Project
- Athens County Court of Common Pleas, Probate/Juvenile Court
- Guernsey County Prosecutor’s Office
- …and other partner institutions committed to justice and public service.
These transformative experiences are made possible through the generous support of the Mary Stanley CLJC Public Service Internship Support Fund, the Social Justice Internship Support Fund (supported by OHIO alumna Leah Recht), and the Adele Morelli Fund for Legacy and Impact.
By reducing financial barriers and cultivating strong partnerships, the CLJC ensures that all students, regardless of background, can access meaningful, résumé‑building opportunities that prepare them for law school, public service, and impactful careers in the legal field.
