Transfer Programs with More Selective Admission Guidelines

School of Art + Design

A portfolio review is required for admission to any Bachelor of Fine Arts major in the School of Art + Design. For more information, please visit the Art + Design portfolio submission page.

Biological Sciences

Applicants must have a 2.5 cumulative grade point average and have completed the equivalent of BIOS 1700 and 1705.

College of Business

Applicants must have a minimum accumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have completed the equivalent of 1) ENG 1510 and 2) ECON 1030 or ECON 1040.

Criminal Justice

Applicants must have completed an associate degree in a related field and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale. If an applicant to the Bachelor of Criminal Justice does not yet have an associate degree, but is in the final semester of a law enforcement-related program, the applicant may be admitted into the Prebachelor of Criminal Justice program and must complete a supplemental application for admission to the program.

School of Dance

Russ College of Engineering and Technology

Applicants should have completed 20 semester or 30 quarter hours with a minimum accumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. Additionally, applicants must have completed the following equivalent pre-requisites with a "C" or better:

  • One math course equal to MATH 1200 (or higher)
  • One science course equal to CHEM 1210, CHEM 1500, CHEM 1510 (required Chemistry course dependent on major), or PHYS 2051

Students who have completed fewer than 20 semester or 30 credit hours are encouraged to apply for admission to all college programs. Students applying to Aviation or Engineering Technology and Management will be reviewed under general admission guidelines.

School of Film

J. Warren McClure School of Emerging Communication Technologies

Applicants must have completed at least 32 semester or 48 quarter hours, with a minimum accumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale for direct admission.

E. W. Scripps School of Journalism

Applicants must have completed 30 semester or 45 quarter hours, with a minimum accumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. All applicants meeting these criteria are initially admitted to University College as Undecided-Intending Journalism. Applicants must submit the supplemental application and additional materials.

School of Music

School of Nursing

Applicants must have:

  • Cumulative grade-point average of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale
  • Completed at least 30 semester credit hours at the post-secondary level
  • Completed the equivalent of CHEM 1205 and 1205L (lab) or have a Math Placement Level 1 or higher.

All applicants meeting these admission criteria are initially admitted as Pre-Nursing. For more information regarding the pre-major to major application process please contact the School of Nursing or visit the Undergraduate Catalog.

Bachelor of Specialized Studies

Applicants meeting general university admission criteria interested in specialized studies are initially admitted to University College as undecided. Students must attend a Bachelor of Specialized Studies (BSS) Info Session prior to beginning the BSS application process. School of Theater

An audition, interview, writing sample, and/or portfolio review is required for admission to any Bachelor of Fine Arts major in the School of Theater. For more information, please visit the Theater audition and interview registration page.

School of Visual Communication

Transfer applicants are reviewed twice a year for a limited number of seats. All applicants with a minimum accumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale at the time of transfer will be considered for admission to University College as Undecided-Intending Visual Communication. Applicants must attend a transfer student information session and be interviewed by the school faculty. During this interview, students must have available copy of their DARS or transcript, a resume and portfolio (examples of personal creative work).
