Athletic Training Early Assurance Program
Through the Athletic Training Early Assurance Program (EAP), incoming freshmen can earn early admission to the Ohio University Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) and can begin the program upon completing their undergraduate degree. Participants also have the option to participate in the accelerated graduate program, which allows students to complete a bachelor's and master's degree in just five years.
About the Master of Science in Athletic Training Program
The Master of Science in Athletic Training is a rigorous and selective graduate program that allows students to combine classroom knowledge and skills with hands on experiences at a variety of clinical sites. Athletic trainers provide health care services to the physically active population. Many athletic trainers work with high school, collegiate, and professional athletes. However, you can also find athletic trainers working in rehabilitation clinics, industrial settings, the military, the performing arts, physician offices, and a variety of other settings.

Eligibility Criteria
- Be admitted to OHIO's Athens campus as a first-year student in one of the following majors:
- Exercise physiology
- Exercise physiology pre-athletic training
- Biological sciences
- Have the equivalent high school GPA of 3.5 or greater on a a 4.0 scale
Application Process
For full consideration, students must complete the Athletic Training EAP application by Monday, January 19, 2026. The application includes a required essay. A list of extracurricular activities and a letter of recommendation are encouraged. Selected students will be notified in March.
To apply for the Athletic Training EAP, you first need to apply to OHIO and then log in using the email address you listed on your application for admission. If you have not previously logged in or need to reset your password, select “Forgot Your Password?” on the login screen and follow the prompts.
