OHIO proudly boasts six men’s and ten women’s NCAA Division I teams, and OHIO students can attend home varsity events at no extra cost.
The most exciting band in the land – OHIO’s Marching 110 – has performed at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, Carnegie Hall, the Eiffel Tower, and at pro football games. Join the Cheer Team and other students in the O Zone to cheer on your Bobcats! The O Zone is in its 10th year as the premier student cheering section of the Mid-American Conference.
Recreation and Fitness
If you are looking for ways to stay active, visit the 168,000 square foot Ping Recreation Center, with its 36-foot climbing wall, five basketball/volleyball courts, two multipurpose gymnasiums, an elevated four-lane indoor running track, seven racquetball courts, free weight areas and two group fitness rooms that host combative sports, aerobic, fitness and dance classes. Additional facilities include the Aquatic Center, Bird Ice Arena, golf course, and tennis center. If you enjoy the outdoors, fo for a run or a bike ride on the 21-mile bike path that winds its way through campus on the way to nearby towns. Hiking is popular at The Ridges, a 700-acre land lab right on the Ohio University campus. OHIO also offers more than 30 club sports, including soccer and lacrosse.
