Welcome to the resource page for parents and families of OHIO students! Here, you will find links to some of the most commonly needed information—whether it’s scheduling a campus visit for a prospective student, addressing mail to a student living in one of our residence halls, tuition payment, or options for students interested in taking summer classes.

At OHIO, your student’s future is our top priority. Beginning with student orientation and extending all the way through commencement, our faculty and staff strive to help students get the most from their Ohio University experience and prepare them for their futures as professionals in a complex, interconnected world. With the encouragement of their professors, a growing number of our students are competing for national awards, such as prestigious Fulbright and Goldwater honors.

A two-century legacy of academic excellence. As a student at Ohio University, your son or daughter joins a tradition of excellence that extends back to the early days of our nation’s history. Ohio University was founded in 1804, when Thomas Jefferson was president—and just before Lewis and Clark began exploring the territories that would become the western United States. Today, OHIO has more than 160,000 alumni around the world!

Plenty of academic choices. Whether a student is interested in studying the biology of dinosaurs or designing Web sites, examining the works of Shakespeare or working to develop environmental solutions and clean fuel technologies, our more than 250 majors offer a broad range of academic options.

Global connections.
In addition to study abroad programs that give students a chance to complete part of their studies at prestigious institutions around the world, international students from about 100 countries attend OHIO. This diverse academic environment enables students to share ideas and perspectives with classmates from around the world—and better prepares them for professional opportunities that may cross international boundaries.

Programs that help get new students off to a great start. Our residential campus features learning communities that are specially designed for first-year students. The LC program allows a group of students to take a cluster of common courses. The focus is on creating an academic environment where students of diverse backgrounds can live and learn together as they build friendships and adjust to college life.

Thank you for visiting our Web site. Whether you’re a parent of a current OHIO student or your son or daughter is considering joining the Ohio University family, we hope the links listed here will help in meeting your informational needs. If you are unable to locate the specific resource you need through this page, our University switchboard operator may be able to assist you at 740.593.1000.
