Your Reopening Questions Answered

June 5, 2020

Since the March 2020 temporary closure of our facility, important decisions about the 100 Day Challenge, facility reopening and membership support are being made and WellWorks wants to communicate these decisions to ensure a safe and supportive environment.

Regarding the 100 Day Challenge: WellWorks staff would like to recognize that the 100 Day Challenge was extra hard this year.  WellWorks and University benefits worked together to award membership in a way that embodied the spirit of the 100-day visit: consistent work (2 visit a week) empowers employees to support healthy lifestyles.  Our teams considered a variety of factors, including that it was possible for anyone to still complete the 100 Day Challenge, as there were more than 100 days left in the fiscal year.  However it was not equitable to award 1 year memberships to all employees nor find a fair cut off point for lower visits.

All memberships have been frozen during the duration of the closure (with the exception of direct debit – we have not be debiting during this time, therefore they have not been paying for the months we have been closed).  Therefore, most memberships will remain active when we reopen, with extensions added based on you expiration date.  We are still uncertain of the 100 Day Challenge for July 2020 – June 2021 and WellWorks and University Benefits will work together to determine the Challenge requirements and clearly communicate those to employees and our members.  This communication will most likely come after July 1, 2020 as the University has not announced an opening of the Athens campus at this time.

Do you have other questions? The WellWorks team is actively engaged in thinking about new ways to connect with our members. This includes virtual membership, virtual personal training, and how to keep our Grover Center facility a welcoming and stress reducing experience as we return to campus.  WellWorks will announce new adventures as they become finalized and we realize there are some other questions out there. In response to a quickly changing environment, we have compiled a Frequently Asked Questions website and will be updating it as information becomes available.
