Internship Scholarships

Scripps College of Communication students are encouraged to apply for scholarships that they can use toward a summer and fall internship. All Scripps rising junior, junior and senior students are eligible.

Don Perris Endowed Scholarship

Each year multiple students are awarded $4,000 to be used toward a summer or fall internship. Students must work a minimum of 35 hours over a 10-week period during the summer or fall. 

The 2026 application period was Jan. 28 through 11:59 p.m. Feb. 19, 2026. Finalists and alternates were made aware of their selection in early March.

Who is Eligible?

• This funding is available to rising juniors, juniors, seniors and graduating seniors. 
• Students do not need to have an internship secured to apply for funding; however, students should be actively applying to internships. Finalists will then have until April 15 to secure an internship that meets requirements. In the event that a finalist is unable to do so, the funding will be awarded to an alternate with an approved secured internship.
• If you are an international student studying in the Scripps College of Communication, we recommend checking with International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) to determine your eligibility for this funding.
