Communication Sciences and Disorders Major

Program Overview

The Communication Sciences and Disorders program at Ohio University ensures a well-rounded undergraduate education. Students develop skills and knowledge in scientific and humanistic areas, with a strong emphasis on communication abilities, scholarship, professionalism, service, and multicultural engagement. The curriculum integrates a sequence of interdisciplinary coursework with courses designed to provide a sound understanding of normal human communication processes and an introduction to speech-language pathology and audiology.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the program:

  1. Students will be able to identify factors contributing to typical and disordered speech and language processes.
  2. Students will be able to identify factors contributing to typical and disordered hearing processes.
  3. Students will be able to apply the knowledge of human communication processes to the evaluation of research and professional scope.
