University Libraries Announces 2026 Student Expo Library Awardees

Ohio University Libraries is thrilled to recognize outstanding student work at the 2026 Ohio Student Research and Creative Activity Expo, held April 7. Nearly 700 student researchers gathered at the Walter Fieldhouse to showcase some of the best graduate and undergraduate work from throughout the University.
Each year, the Libraries holds special award sessions for students that demonstrate superior use of library resources and services. Six awardees received cash prizes with support from the Vernon R. and Marion Alden Endowment.
Graduate Student Award:
- 1st. Subekshya Ghimire, Education, Gladys W. and David H. Patton College of Education. “Learning through Local Stories: Exploring Rural Teacher’s Perceptions and Approaches to Social and Emotional Learning.”
- 2nd. Sital Chaulagain, Communication and Development, Scripps College of Communication. “The Impact of Social Media on Harmful Menstrual Practices in Nepal; A Study of TikTok and Instagram Reels in Kavrepalanchok District.”
Undergraduate Student Award:
- 1st. Genevive Ehmann, Biology, College of Arts & Sciences. “Histological Analysis of Pancreatic Islets in NOD Mice Following Treatment with an Experimental Type 1 Diabetes Reversal Compound.”
- 2nd. Phoebe Giordano, Environmental Studies, Outdoor Recreation & Education, Appalachian Studies, Honors Tutorial College. “A Culture of Connection: Understanding Gendered Experiences of Food Insecurity in Appalachian Ohio.”
Libraries Student Employee Award:
- 1st. Alexis Reynolds, English Pre-Law and Religious Studies, College of Arts & Sciences. “Venturing Into Voting Exhibit.”
- 2nd. James Mobley, Geography - Climate, Environment, and Society, College of Arts & Sciences. “Understanding Dataset Creation: The Hocking River & Tributaries.”
