The Office of Global Opportunities succeeds by working directly with the students we serve. Each year, we hire students for federal work study, student hourly, and Program to Aid Career Exploration (PACE) positions. These students play critical roles in our office, from advising peers on finding global experiences to shaping our marketing and promotion strategies and more. Working with our office gives you the opportunity to learn new skills, share your story, and collaborate with others.

In general, OGO positions fall into the below categories:

  1. Advising roles, such as the Peer Advisor, PACE Access & Student Success Advising Assistant, PACE Experiential Learning & Career Integration Coordinator and PACE Global Experience Enrollment Assistant.
  2. Data Management roles, such as the PACE Salesforce Data Analytics Intern Administrator.
  3. Media roles, such as the PACE Graphic Designer.
  4. Administrative Support roles through the Federal Work Study program.

Program to Aid Career Exploration (PACE)

The Program to Aid Career Exploration (PACE) is an on-campus, internship-like work program. PACE gives students the chance to explore their career interests. It also serves as a great resume-builder for students looking to expand their work experience.

Interested students must be PACE program eligible to apply for a currently open PACE Position and will apply in the PACE system. Find out more about the PACE program at the Ohio University PACE website.

Selected applicants will start their positions fall semester 2026 and continue through to the end of spring semester 2027. PACE students work approximately 10 hours per week, including occasional evening and weekend hours, during the academic semester (excluding final exams week). PACE students will earn minimum wage, including any training days (currently $11.00/hr).

In this PACE role, you'll help students connect global and off-campus learning experiences to career readiness, professional skill development, and purposeful reflection.

Global Experience Enrollment Assistant

In this PACE role, you'll guide peers through the steps of the application process, improve pre-departure resources, and help enhance the student experience around the pre-departure requirements.

This position is great for if you love travel, helping others, and are able to stay organized as your manage multiple processes.

Graphic Designer

In this PACE role, you'll play a pivotal role in expanding the quality and variety of promotional services OGO currently provides. This position will maintain and refine a cohesive and comprehensive print and digital design portfolio to market global experiences. 

This position is ideal for a graphic designer looking to work within an organization, assess and implement its design needs, while expanding their portfolio.

Salesforce Customer Relationship management (CRM) System Administrator

In this PACE role, you'll support OGO by working to improve our CRM, Salesforce. This position focuses on maintaining data integrity throughout our system, with the opportunity to suggest/implement improvements to the CRM. 

Perfect for students interested in data, analytics, and making systems more efficient and user-friendly.

Peer Advisors

Peer Advisors play a key role in supporting global initiatives at Ohio University and their fellow students by providing one-on-one advising during walk-in hours, sharing their global experiences with others through outreach events, and assisting OGO with special initiatives. If you have previous experience as a college student on an international or domestic program to study, intern, or volunteer, we invite you to join our team.

Selected applicants will start their positions fall semester 2026 and continue through to the end of spring semester 2027. Peer advisors work approximately 6-10 hours per week, including occasional evening and weekend hours, during the academic semester (excluding final exams week). Additional hours are available through outreach events and special projects. Peer Advisors will earn minimum wage, including any training days (currently $11.00/hr).
