Sunny Decker
Sunny Decker is an emerging interior architecture and design student at Ohio University whose work explores the intersection of space, emotion, and human experience. Rooted in empathy and guided by evidence-based design, her approach considers how environments can shape the way people feel, move, and connect. She is particularly interested in creating spaces that balance clarity with warmth and where intuitive design supports both independence and meaningful interaction for all.
Her senior thesis, The Living Community, reimagines aging in place through a mixed-use, community centered lens. The project integrates residential living with social, wellness, and service-based programming to reduce isolation and foster connection across generations. Through thoughtful use of light, materiality, and spatial flow, Sunny’s work challenges conventional models of aging, positioning design as a tool for dignity, belonging, and long-term well-being.
