Kelly Jo Kindred

After five years as a design consultant and project manager for real estate investors, KJ Kindred graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Architecture, with a Minor in Studio Art, from Ohio University’s Online program.  Her background focused on custom designs for full renovations of complex, abandoned, or distressed residential properties in need of revitalization. This work has included historical restorations, which enhanced her desire to preserve community identity through the historical integrity of architecture. Her involvement in the design and project management of over 200 property renovations set her on a path to Ohio University to strengthen her work with technical knowledge and professional skills.

When speaking of Interior Architecture, KJ said, “I find joy in creating spaces that blend relaxation and playfulness into each project. My work emphasizes making people feel truly at home in their surroundings, no matter the style. Functional, warm environments that invite connection are at the heart of my design approach.” A signature of her design work was realistic functionality that prioritized the comfort of occupants in everyday life.

During her time at Ohio University, KJ achieved a 4.0 GPA, earning a place on the President’s List each semester and graduating summa cum laude. She accomplished this while balancing online coursework with full-time work. Through the Interior Architecture program, she mastered Revit and CAD software, including Escape, to enhance 3D rendering and modeling. Her favorite projects included the design of several mixed-use, multi-story buildings for both residential and commercial purposes.

After graduation, KJ accepted a full-time position as a Designer for Ugville Construction, the construction and renovation branch of Bayview Asset Management, where she had previously completed a successful internship. At Ugville, she specializes in custom remodel plans that make sense of difficult layouts. These remodels enhance a wide variety of architectural styles and are tailored to design preferences across 50 markets in the continental United States. In addition to design work, KJ has branched into business development for the Design and Construction Teams, creating operational systems and developing new design products for clients. In her free time, she enjoys treasure hunting for antiques, collecting seashells, and walking on the beach with her husband and four children.
