Anabelle Dow
In her elementary years, it was a common occurrence for Anabelle’s mother to spend her weekends taking her to tour the up and coming neighborhoods in the area. The true feeling of happiness in touring the model homes, admiring the trending patterns and materials, and collecting brochures to look at in her bed at night was one to remember. This feeling is what she goes back to when she reflects upon her decision to pursue her passion for design and architecture. Designing functional as well as beautiful & innovative spaces to fit unique needs of the user inspires Anabelle to create. No project is alike and she enjoys the potential of expanding her knowledge with each opportunity. Little Anabelle had the dream and she now has made this dream a reality in her work everyday.
Her education journey has not been one of ease. Starting at VCUarts amidst the pandemic, she made the decision that in-person university was not the path for her and she made the transfer to her local community college and worked full time at a furniture store while she completed her associates degree. After graduation, she decided to pursue her bachelor’s degree and landed at Ohio University. Through her time at the solely online program, she has climbed the corporate ladder and is now an assistant project manager for an architecture firm producing architectural sheets on the Dollar Tree account. 6 years later, Anabelle is farther than she could have ever imagined should she have stayed at VCU.
After graduation from Ohio University, she has plans to continue her career and work towards certifications such as LEED and NCIDQ. Through her time at OU, she has developed a passion for organic materials and the effect they have on a user. She looks forward to implementing this into her projects. Overall, her experience at OU has been challenging and rewarding.
