Alisha Sabins
Alisha Sabins was born and raised in Roseburg, Oregon. Through her time in the program, Alisha worked as a sales associate and design consultant at a flooring and lighting showroom. This allowed her to gain hands-on experience during her courses and apply learned knowledge to her professional projects. Early in her college journey, she attended a community college and played volleyball before transferring to Oregon State University. With a desire to take her design interest more seriously, she later discovered Ohio University’s online Interior Architecture program.
Alisha’s passion for design began at a young age while helping her parents with their home improvement business. Through those experiences, she developed an interest in building design and connected with local interior designers who inspired her to pursue the field professionally. Although she initially planned to major in Business Administration, she chose to switch to interior design to hone in on her passion. She is driven by the goal of creating intentional design solutions that not only achieve the desired aesthetic but also enhance the well-being of the people who use the space.
Throughout her academic journey, Alisha developed a strong space planning skills, adaptability in design thinking, and a deeper understanding of materials and client needs. She maintained an average GPA of 3.81 while balancing work and school. Professionally, she advanced quickly in her position and was able to take on design projects independently.
Looking ahead, Alisha plans to obtain her interior design license, which will allow her to offer more advanced, paid design consultations through the showroom. Ultimately, she hopes to move to a larger city and either start her own design business or work for an established design firm. Her long-term goal is to continue growing creatively while building meaningful relationships with clients and designing spaces that foster a strong sense of home.
