Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield Experiential Learning Partnership Support
These funds will support experiential learning such as clinical placements and internships by providing financial support for students, faculty and partner organizations. Funding will be used within existing curriculum that includes faculty oversight and population specific training.
Anthem priority populations:
- Maternal and postpartum populations
- Individuals with intellectual and developmental differences
- People managing chronic conditions (e.g., diabetes, cardiovascular disease)
- Individuals in recovery from substance use disorders
- Those experiencing mental and behavioral health challenges
- Older adult health and services
- Communities facing poverty, food insecurity, and housing instability

Monetary Awards
- Student: $2500.00 (payments of $1250.00 at the beginning and end of the semester)
- Community Partner: $2000.00 (payment at the beginning of the semester)
- Faculty/Staff: $1000.00 (payment at the beginning of the semester)
- 6-7 funded placements a semester
Timeline
- April 6th: Application launch
- April 22nd: Applications due
- May 4th: Funding notifications
- May 18th: Beginning of the semester goals due
- June 29th: Midterm reflections/evaluation/goals due
- August 10th: Final outcomes/reflections due
Eligibility
- Any student engaging in a clinical/academic experience as part of a course placed in an organization that serves the populations listed above.
- Organizations must be in an Appalachian county in Ohio.
- Student responsibilities must align with course expectations as well as serve the organizational goals.
- Faculty and students will be responsible for vetting organizations/experiences and fund approval will be provided through the application process.
- Faculty, students and community partners will be required to submit deliverables during the funding period.
- Student’s academic merit will be considered in this competitive application
Faculty Statement of Support
A statement of support from the instructor of record will be required for students to complete their application. Statements of support should be 150 words maximum and include the following: Student name, course name and number, name and location of clinical/community placement, supervisor/preceptor name and title. The statement must also briefly outline the intended learning outcomes for the student and benefit for student and clinical/community partner.
