Psychology Online Graduate Certificate
Ohio University’s Psychology Certificate is a 100% online, graduate-level certificate designed for educators who already hold a master’s degree and seek the 18 graduate credit hours required to teach Psychology through College Credit Plus (CCP) in the State of Ohio.
Offered through the Department of Psychology in the College of Arts and Sciences, the certificate provides advanced coursework in psychological science, research literacy, and curriculum development. Courses are taught by nationally recognized faculty engaged in cutting-edge teaching and research across the psychology discipline.
The certificate is designed for working professionals and can be completed in one summer semester or across two semesters during the fall and spring.
Curriculum
The Graduate Psychology Certificate consists of six graduate-level courses for a total of 18 semester credit hours.
Coursework emphasizes:
- Core concepts, theories, and applications in psychology
- Research methods and interpretation of psychological literature
- Curriculum development and communication skills in psychology education
Time to Completion
- One semester (summer), or
- Two semesters (fall and spring)
Courses are offered fall, spring, and summer and may be completed part-time or full-time.
Opportunities Upon Completion
This certificate is intended to help educators meet State of Ohio requirements to teach Psychology through College Credit Plus (CCP). It also provides a pathway for students interested in continuing into Ohio University’s online master’s programs in psychological science.
Note: This certificate does not prepare students for PhD programs in psychology.
Admission Requirements
Admission to the Graduate Certificate in Psychology requires:
- A master’s degree from a regionally accredited U.S. college or university.
- Official Transcripts of all academic work showing a 3.0 GPA must be submitted with the online application.
- Statement of purpose describing your special interests and professional goals.
- Curriculum vitae (CV) or résumé
- English Proficiency: Please review information about Ohio University’s minimum English Language Proficiency requirements for graduate study.
- A $50 application fee is associated with the submission of your application for this program.
Applications are reviewed by the Department of Psychology and the Graduate College.
