Spring Semester 2012-13 Calendar

 

Regional campus students should refer also to the section of the Schedule of Classes pertaining to their campus: Chillicothe, Eastern, Lancaster, Southern, Zanesville.

Deadlines are 5:00 p.m. EST on the date indicated (unless otherwise noted). However, online transactions may be processed beyond 5:00 p.m. EST if the online system is available.

By registering for classes, a student incurs a legal obligation to pay tuition and fees. This debt may be canceled only if the student officially cancels his/her registration BEFORE Monday, January 14, 2013.

MONDAY, OCTOBER 22
Academic advising begins for spring semester registration for continuing students (contact advisor/college/department/school/regional campus student services office as appropriate)

DARS reports available for students enrolled fall semester

Note: A DARS (Degree Audit Reporting System) report is issued to students each semester prior to priority registration. See General Information: Registration for method of distribution and location.

Relocate Day for regional campus students planning to attend Athens campus spring semester

Spring semester priority registration begins


MONDAY, OCTOBER 29 - MONDAY, NOVEMBER 19

Online registration available for spring semester priority registration (see Registration Schedule). This is priority registration based on class rank.

Note: Continuing students can obtain DARS reports at the locations listed under General Information: Registration or at their regional campus student services offices. Re-enrolling students are mailed registration information upon receipt of their request to re-enroll.

Fee Information: The initial due date for spring fees is Monday, January 21, 2013. This includes registration charges incurred as of Monday, December 31, 2012. Account balance notifications for newly incurred charges are emailed at the beginning of each month and are due on the 21st of the month. Payments not received by the due date will incur a finance charge of 1.5%. See General Information: Fee Assessment Payment/Deadline-Bills for information on making payments.

Students may check their schedules anytime at My OHIO Student Center. See General Information: Schedules, Student for more information.

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 20 - FRIDAY, JANUARY 25
Registration available for spring semester drops and adds (see Registration Schedule)

Last day for withdraw from housing to avoid forfeiture of spring semester deposit of $200 (new spring semester admits only).

International student orientation

FRIDAY, JANUARY 11
Bobcat Student Orientation for all new first-year and transfer students not attending December orientation.

Note: New international undergraduate students must first attend orientation on January 9 and will be directed to attend Bobcat Student Orientation if eligible.


SATURDAY, JANUARY 12
Residence halls open at 9:00 a.m.

Housing office open 12:00 noon - 4:00 p.m. (limited services will be available)


SUNDAY, JANUARY 13
Residence halls open at 9:00 a.m.

Housing office open 12:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. (limited services will be available)

Last day to cancel registration for spring semester (remove all courses and fees)

Note: Cancellation of registration is defined as dropping all classes before the first day of classes

Spring semester opening date

Last day to add a spring semester class without instructor's approval

Last day to check out of residence hall to receive 80% housing/dining refund

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day holiday (University office officially closed; classes not in session)

Spring semester tuition and fees due for students registered by Monday, December 31, 2012

Reminder:
Fees must be paid by the due date. Students who have not paid their fees will not have classes canceled but will incur a finance charge of 1.5%. If you do not plan to attend spring semester, you must cancel all of your classes by accessing My OHIO Student Center or by calling the Office of the University Registrar, 740.593.4495, BEFORE Monday, January 14, 2013, the first day of classes.

Last day to register for spring semester

Note: Students who are in attendance by this date but fail to complete any registration procedures must pay a penalty for retroactive registration correction according to the following schedule:

January 26 - February 1 $ 40
February 2 - 8 $ 60
February 9 - 15 $ 80
February 16 - 22 $100

Last day to add a spring semester class (instructor's permission required)

Last day to remove a spring semester class from student's academic record with possible fee adjustment
Note: January 26 - March 22 students may withdraw from one or more spring semester classes, but the course will remain on student's academic record with WP/WF and no fee adjustment.

Last day to receive partial fee adjustment (80%) of registration fees for complete withdrawal from the University for spring semester (all spring semester courses removed from the student's academic record)

Last day to apply for pass/fail grading option for spring semester class (apply at your college student services office or regional campus student services office)

Last day to change a grading option for spring semester class (credit to audit, audit to credit, pass/fail to regular grade option, or regular grade option to pass/fail)

Last day to change college/major for spring semester (contact your college student services office or regional campus student services office)

Last day for removing Incomplete grades incurred during last enrollment (if not removed, I grade will change to F)


SATURDAY, JANUARY 26
Students may withdraw from one or more spring semester classes through March 22 (last day to withdraw from an individual class)

Note: Course remains on student's academic record with grade of WP (withdrawn passing) or WF (withdrawn failing) and continues to be used in the calculation of tuition and fees. Corrected registration that results in increased hours could increase tuition.

Last day to check out of residence hall to receive 60% housing/dining refund


FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 1
Deadline to waive spring semester health insurance, WellBeing Plan, and/or Student Legal Service


SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 2

Last day to check out of residence hall to receive 40% housing/dining refund

Note: Official degree conferral date is May 3 (graduate), May 4 (undergraduate), May 4 (medical). Commencement is held at the conclusion of spring semester (May 3 - graduate commencement; May 4 - undergraduate commencements; May 11 - Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine commencement).
