Zanesville Campus Anniversary Celebration
Ohio University Zanesville will celebrate 80 years of education, service and community partnership with a special anniversary celebration on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2026, honoring the campus's rich history while looking toward an exciting future.
The celebration, themed "Rooted in Excellence. Growing Our Legacy.", reflects the campus's proud history and its continued commitment to serving students, alumni and the region. Throughout the day, alumni, students, faculty, staff, retirees, community partners and friends of Ohio University Zanesville are invited to join signature events that celebrate eight decades of educational excellence and regional impact.

Bobcat Brunch: A Community Growing Together Since 1946

Join Ohio University Zanesville as we celebrate 80 years of education, partnership and community impact with a special Bobcat Brunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Alumni are invited to reconnect, share memories, and celebrate the people and partnerships that have helped shape the campus since 1946.
A brief anniversary program will begin at 11:40 a.m., recognizing our shared history and the lasting connections that continue to strengthen Ohio University Zanesville and the communities we serve.
Come celebrate where we’ve been, the relationships that brought us here, and the legacy we continue to build together.

Campus Open House: Celebrating Our Programs and People
Saturday, September 26 | 2 - 3 pm | Elson Hall
As part of Ohio University Zanesville’s 80th Anniversary Celebration, campus doors will be open from 2 to 3 p.m. for a special Campus Open House.
Alumni, prospective students, families, community members and friends of OHIO Zanesville are invited to explore campus. Campus tours will be available during the open house. Whether you studied at OHIO Zanesville, are considering becoming a Bobcat or simply want to see what is happening on campus today, stop in and explore as we celebrate our history and look toward what’s next.

Celebrating 80 Years at Ohio University Zanesville
Join Ohio University Zanesville’s education community as we celebrate 80 years of learning, connection, and impact—and look ahead to the future of education. Enjoy a special read-aloud and book signing with award-winning children’s author Kate Hoeffler, connect with alumni, students, and future educators, and learn more about our education programs. You'll also have opportunities to win an autographed copy of The Couch in the Yard or a teacher-supplies gift basket!

The nursing team will start the event with a short presentation about Florence Nightingale by long-term faculty member Judy Davis. Community Gathering: Celebrating Our Roots and Branching Toward Tomorrow
Saturday, September 26 | 3 - 7 pm | Campus Green
Continue the 80th anniversary celebration from 3 to 7 p.m. at Ohio University Zanesville. Students, faculty, staff, families, alumni, community members and friends of the campus are invited to spend the afternoon celebrating our roots while experiencing what’s growing at OHIO Zanesville today.
Enjoy family activities, lawn games, food trucks, and opportunities to connect with OHIO Zanesville faculty, staff, students, and alumni.
At 4 p.m., Mikenley Brown, finalist on The Voice, will perform live on the campus green. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs and enjoy the music and celebration.
The event is free and open to the community. In the event of inclement weather, activities and entertainment will move to Elson Hall Auditorium.
The History of Ohio University Zanesville
The Ohio University Zanesville campus, founded in 1946, is one of the first regional campuses established in the state. About 55 miles north of Athens, the Zanesville campus serves a large area of the Muskingum Valley region.
