VisCom alumna Annie Flanagan wins FotoVisura scholarship
ATHENS, Ohio (July 28, 2014)—Annie Flanagan, BSVC ’09, has won the FotoVisura Scholarship for Vermont Photojournalists and will attend a 2014 FotoVisura Summer Editing Workshop.
“Annie was a great student,” said School of Visual Communication Professor Stan Alost. “She enjoyed telling stories with a camera and connected with her subjects. Her hard work as an undergraduate earned her recognition and helped build the foundation that is helping her pursue the work she wants to do.”
Flanagan is a photographer and filmmaker based in Vermont. She earned her baccalaureate degree from Ohio University in 2009 and recently completed her Master’s degree at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. While at Ohio University, she earned accolades from both the Alexia Foundation and the College Photographer of the Year contest.
According to the FotoVisura website, a photographer must be a FotoVisura member living or born in Vermont working on a long-term social art and/ or documentary project to be eligible for the scholarship.
