Visiting Professional Andy Alexander will announce the 2014 competition during Scripps Day on October 8, highlighting the new features of this year's contest in Baker 240.
This year, the contest features a diversity component that focuses on solutions that address underserved and underrepresented communities. An additional $5,000 in prizes will be awarded to student teams that successfully address reaching a diverse community or audience.
Student teams respond to "challenges" posed by media professionals and entities looking for technological, process or product solutions to issues they are currently facing in their businesses. Student teams have two months to develop their pitch and other deliverables to address the challenges. The teams pitch their ideas to a panel of media professionals on April 21 to win the prizes.
The competition offers $20,000 in prize money to teams who place first, second and with honorable mentions.
