Sibs Weekend

February 5—February 7, 2016 

One of the first and best family weekends.  Big and little sibs are invited to have a taste of college life and to bond with their brother or sister.  Cousins and other family members are welcome, too!

Ohio University Alumni Chapters will be offering round-trip bus transportation from Akron and Cleveland to Athens for Sibs Weekend! Proceeds from the sale of bus tickets will benefit the chapter's scholarship to send a local area student to OHIO. OHIO Men’s Hockey vs. Illinois

7:30 p.m., Bird Arena 

Brief description of the Event: The OHIO Bobcats hit the ice against Illinois. Puck drops ‪at 7:30pm

Breakdown of the cost of tickets: Students tickets are $6 and all other tickets are $8. All tickets are general admission. Doors open ‪at 6:45pm. Children under 5 are free, all others attending must have a ticket to enter the facility (students will need a ticket.) Game day tickets are not guaranteed and are based on availability.

Night Hike, Stargazing, & Campfire

8pm-11pm, The Ridges 

Brief description of the Event: An evening of hiking, campfires, stargazing, s’mores, and fun at the Ridges.

Break down of the cost of tickets: $10/per person (includes transportation, s’mores, and guide staff)

Do you think you have what it takes to be crowned “Apollo Nights Best”?!

8pm, The Ballroom, Baker University Center 

Brief description of the Event: Its that time of year again for our annual "Apollo Night” show! This family-friendly show, presented by BSCPB, has provided a platform for an array of talented OU Students in the past, and this year will be no different. From singing, dancing, raffles and more, BSCPB ensures that this will be a show you and your sibs will NOT want to miss.

Sibs Bash & Zumbathon

‪2 p.m. – 6 p.m.‬ (Zumbathon starts ‪at 4:30 p.m.‬), Walter Fieldhouse  

Brief description of the Event: Hang out with your sib at Walter Fieldhouse while enjoying free food, a magician, inflatables, games and a Zumba class! 

Break down of the cost of tickets: Students are free and all others are $5 (paid at door). 



UPC Sib’s Weekend Carnival

4pm-6pm, The Ballroom, Baker University Center 

Brief description of the Event: Come one, Come all to the greatest carnival of all! Bring your sibs to UPC's Sib's Weekend Carnival for carnival food, games, and entertainment! All ages welcome to come and enjoy an afternoon of carnival fun!

Sibs Weekend Concert Ft. T-PAIN presented by the BSCPB

8pm, Templeton Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium 

Brief description of the Event: Every year during Sibs Weekend the Black Student Cultural Programming Board hosts a concert that has brought out some of the hottest artists in hip hop music! This year, the headlining artist is T-PAIN! Past performers include: Wiz Khalifa, John Legend, J. Cole, Big Sean, Lil Wayne, MGK, Tyga and many more! T-Pain tickets are on sale (1/15) at noon for Student walkup/phone sales.  To purchase tickets online, click here. All online sales will begin Friday (1/15) at 2pm.

Midnight Meltdown: Sibs Weekend

‪10:30 p.m. – 12:00 a.m.‬, Bird Arena 

Brief description of the Event: Midnight Meltdown recreational skate session that follows the conclusion of the OHIO Men’s hockey game. 

Breakdown of the cost of tickets: Admission is $3.50. Skate rentals is $3.50. (Pay at the door.)



Day Hike: Old Man’s Cave

10am – 3pm, Hocking Hills 

Brief description of the Event: Join Outdoor Pursuits on a day hike through the Old Man’s Cave region of Hocking Hills State Park. This area is scattered with a variety of geologic features including waterfalls, sandstone cliffs, and rock formations. A great way to spend the day with your family and friends!

Breakdown of the cost of tickets: $20/per person (Includes transportation, lite lunch, and guide staff.  Pick-up and drop-off at Ping.)

Zipline Adventure

10am, 11am, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm, 4pm, The Ridges 

Brief description of the Event: Head to the Ridges to catch some air on the Outdoor Pursuits zipline! We'll provide the equipment and instruction, you provide the excitement as you climb our 40-foot tower to the take-off platform and fly down a 300-foot zipline.

Breakdown of the cost of tickets: $25 per person- Includes all equipment, instruction, and shuttle to zipline facility.  Meet in front of Ping 15 minutes before your scheduled time.

Ohio Men's Basketball and Women's Basketball vs. NIU

Brief description of the Event: Ohio Men's and Women's Basketball both face Northern Illinois in games with huge postseason implications. Arrive early, get loud and #BeTheDifference for your Bobcats! One ticket provides admission to both games

Sibs Weekend Intramural Wallyball

‪12:00 – 3:00 p.m.‬ , Racquetball Courts in Ping  

Brief description of the Event: Bring your sibs and your friends to play Wallyball, a game similar to volleyball but on a Racquetball court and the use of walls is allowed.

Athena Cinema Harry Potter Marathon

12pm (noon) - 12am (midnight), Athena Cinema 

Brief description of the Event:

Welcome to the first-ever Athena Cinema Harry Potter Marathon (films 1-4)! This is a one-time special event and while everyone is welcome, this is not a challenge for the faint at heart. Only the most die-hard HP enthusiasts will conquer this challenge. The marathon will take place from noon until midnight and be hosted by official members of the Ohio University Harry Potter Alliance. There will be Harry Potter themed concessions, prizes for a three-part on-screen trivia game and costume contest and more.

Sibs Weekend @KMA

1-3pm, Kennedy Museum of Art 

Brief description of the Event: Bring your sibling(s) to the Kennedy Museum of Art to view exhibitions and participate in a studio activity designed especially for you and your sib(s).  Current exhibitions include: Encounters Beyond Borders: Contemporary Artists from the Horn of Africa, Hidden Mother, Emerging Artists: Meigs High School Photography Exhibition, and Frank Hunter Photography.  The museum is open to visitors Friday 10am-5pm and Saturday and Sunday 1pm-5pm.
