Technical and Applied Studies Major (B.T.A.S.)

Program Overview

The Bachelor of Technical and Applied Studies (B.T.A.S.), offered on all five regional campuses and through OHIO Online, is primarily intended for students who have already completed two years or earned 60 credits from an accredited community college, accredited regional campus/university, or an accredited technical college and who wish to pursue a baccalaureate degree. The program provides students with the practical application of knowledge and skills necessary for advancement in their chosen careers and integrates the technical skills developed during the first two years with the professional skills instilled in a bachelor's degree program.

A completion degree, the B.T.A.S. utilizes 60 semester hours of college credit. A minimum of 120 semester hours is needed to meet the requirements for a baccalaureate degree. As part of the 120 credits, students must meet Ohio University general education requirements and the B.T.A.S. major requirements, which is 33 credit hours of major coursework. Students must complete all TAS courses with a 'C' or better, maintain a 2.0 GPA overall and within the major, and meet the upper division requirement of 30 credit hours at the 3000/4000 level, which students will satisfy through the major coursework. Elective hours may be required to reach 120 hours.
