Graduate Assistant Information

Position Summary 

The Graduate College seeks a motivated and detail-oriented Graduate Assistant to support communications, student services, and Thesis and Dissertation (TAD) operations. This position offers experience in higher education administration, student engagement, and academic processes. The GA will report to the Director of Communications and Professional Development and collaborate with the Associate Dean for Student Success, the Director of TAD Services, the TAD Student Services Administrator, and BELONGS Fellows. 

Appointment Details

Up to 20 hours per week, approximately 10 hours in-person in the Graduate College.

Work hours generally in Monday–Friday, 9AM–5PM window with 5 or less evening or weekend hours to help promote or set-up for Graduate College events.

Includes tuition scholarship for Fall and Spring 2026-27, plus stipend of $7650 per semester. 

Required & Preferred (*) Qualifications 

  • OU graduate student in 2026-27 academic year, enrolled for 12 hours 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Strong attention to detail and organization 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word 
  • Willingness to learn new systems and tools 
  • Experience with social media and content creation *
  • Experience with editing and formatting Microsoft word documents*
  • Experience with video editing* 

Key Responsibilities 

Communications & Student Engagement 

  • Create and manage social media content (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram) 
  • Record and edit video and multimedia content (training provided, if needed) 
  • Assist with newsletters and promotional materials 
  • Support event planning and promotion 

Thesis & Dissertation Services (training provided)

  • Assist with thesis and dissertation submission processes 
  • Create and maintain records in several OU software platforms 
  • Assist with formatting thesis and dissertation documents 
  • Manage documentation and data entry related to Thesis and Dissertation processes

Administrative Support

  • Assist with Orientation, Commencement, and the Three Minute Thesis competition 
  • Support Graduate College staff with projects and operational tasks 
  • Provide front desk reception at the Graduate College
  • Respond to student inquiries via email, phone, and in-person (training provided)
