Consortium for Overseas Student Teaching (COST)

Ohio University is a member institution of COST, the Consortium for Overseas Student Teaching. The COST program allows teacher candidates to fulfill part of their Professional Internship II requirements while living abroad and student teaching. The COST experience provides professional and personal growth in ways that are increasingly important for teaching in the United States.


  • Living and working for an extended period in a foreign country will help you broaden your outlook on the world, develop a greater appreciation of other cultures, and increase global awareness.
  • Become a more effective educator by being open and flexible to different perspectives and ways of living in the world.
  • Experience cultural immersion without needing prior fluency in a foreign language.

Academic Credit

Must be registered for one of the following courses: EDPL 4590, EDPL 4620, EDPL 4650.
