Does the online Master of Science in Electrical Engineering require an entrance exam like the GMAT or GRE?

The GRE is required for admissions only for applicants who did not graduate from an ABET-accredited electrical engineering or computer engineering undergraduate program. This includes students with non-engineering degrees and students with engineering degrees from non-accredited programs.

What are the GRE scores required for admission into the online Master of Science in Electrical Engineering?

For students who did not graduate from an ABET-accredited electrical engineering or computer engineering undergraduate program, a score in the top 25th percentile on the quantitative reasoning portion of the GRE is required. The requirements for the online Master of Science in Electrical Engineering include:

  • 3.0 GPA — applicants for admission with an undergraduate GPA below 3.0 will be reviewed more carefully.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering or computer engineering from an ABET-accredited program, or a GRE quantitative reasoning score in the top 25th percentile for students with a non-ABET-accredited degree or a degree in another subject.
  • Personal Statement essay.
  • Three letters of recommendation from academic professors or supervisors.
  • For international students, a score of at least 88 on the TOEFL iBT (570 paper-based) or a 7.0 on the 9-band scale of the IELTS test.
