Alec Sebrell
2023-2024 Engineering Ambassador in Electrical Engineering

Alec Sebrell

Hometown: Massillon, Ohio

Expected Graduation Date: Spring 2026

Alec Sebrell is a sophomore electrical engineering student from Massillon, Ohio, just west of Canton. His passion for engineering started in middle school when he learned about 3D printing through the school’s makerspace club. His projects in makerspace led to a fascination with electric motors. This is what sparked his passion to become an electrical engineer.  He choose OHIO because of its status as an R1 research university, where he could have the opportunity to research electric motors. His long-term goal is to contribute to the electrification of the automotive industry.

Alec is also taking a project management certificate to increase his versatility in the job market. Outside of Engineering Ambassadors, Alec is the president of Ohio University’s SAE Baja team “Bobcat Baja” which is an intercollegiate competition where you build and compete with off-road vehicles. This organization has provided Alec with an invaluable opportunity for growth and learning and will continue to help him refine his leadership and project management skills. After the club’s great performance in their first season, finishing 24th out of 78 teams in the fall, Alec’s goal is to further grow the team and make a name for OHIO in the Baja SAE world.

In his free time, he likes to build and play the guitar, bass guitar, and sometimes banjo, as well as go mountain biking.
