Cherry Blossoms at Ohio University
Thank you for joining us for a BEAUTIFUL Cherry Blossom Season! UPDATE: Monday, April 12, 2021: Peak Bloom started March 30 and the blossoms lasted nearly Two Weeks, but have now begun to fade and the evening lights are turned off for the season. This spring's overnight cold temps helped maintain a long bloom, but this has not impacted the health of the trees, overall!
It was a truly special season and the blooms were exquisite. Thank you all for sharing your beautiful photos on social media- check them out below!
Ohio University’s iconic cherry trees draw attention each year, as their blooms symbolize the arrival of spring in Athens. They were given as a gift in 1979 by Chubu University, located in Kasugai Japan, in honor of OHIO’s 175th anniversary. Celebrating the arrival of the blooms along the Hocking River each spring serves as a yearly reminder of the 48-year global partnership with Chubu University.
