Freshman Scholarship Application for the 2023-24 School Year

We are pleased to learn of your interest in the freshman scholarship provided by the Ohio University Women's Club of Greater Cleveland for female students entering Ohio University (Athens campus) full-time as freshmen in the fall of 2023.

In order to be eligible for this award, you must meet all of the following criteria:

  1. Have a minimum cumulative high school GPA of 3.5 for 6 semesters
  2. Graduate from a Greater Cleveland area high school (Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, or Medina county)
  3. Be a female student entering Ohio University as a freshman in the fall of 2023

If you meet all of the above criteria, please fill out the application below and attach the following documents:

  1. One letter of reference from a person unrelated to you. This letter must be signed by them and must include their contact information.
  2. An essay of 500 words or less, double-spaced, one sided. The following 5 topics should serve as headings for each paragraph of your essay:
    • Involvement in high school activities & approximate hours per month
    • Service to your community & approximate hours per month
    • Work experience & approximate hours per month
    • Career goals
    • Reason(s) for applying to Ohio University
  3. Please also mail an official, sealed copy of your high school transcript that shows your cumulative high school GPA to the following address:

Materials must be submitted and postmarked no later than Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2023.

Our selection is based on GPA (40%), essay (50%), and reference letter (10%). This scholarship can range in value from a partial scholarship up to a full-tuition scholarship for the freshman year only. The maximum a student can receive is an amount, when considered with other awards, which totals the amount of tuition only.

Submitting this application grants permission for the exchange of financial and academic information between the Student Relations Chairperson and the Ohio University Financial Aid and Scholarship Office.
